1102 trip to Ghent
Visited Ghent by train with my parents. We were supposed to get there more earlier but it took around 3 hours. My mom`s friend welcomed us and she took us to her house.
Before going to the house, we went to a cafe where her daughter was working at first. The cafe was cozy and as we often say コゼラ in dutch. Also the dessert and cappuccino were awesome. It was not too much to say that they were the most delicious desserts in my life. Her daughter worked very seriously even though she was still 17. I forgot to ask if it is natural for high school students work like this. She is going to go to Ecuador to do volunteer work after she graduate from high school. This kind of gap year experience is common in European countries. I think it is better experience than doing 浪人 in clim school. And these two daughters can speak English very well.
I don’t think every education in better in Europe. Of course some education is better in Japan. But I think European education would provide great opportunity to take a challenge all over the world. English education will provide not only English skills but also the opportunities like going to study and doing volunteer in foreign countries. In Japan, people need to select their future way while they are still in school. European students can decide major and school I year after they graduate from high school. Also they basically do job-hunting after graduate from uni. In case of elite European students, they mostly go to master corse at least. Anyway the way of spending gap year is very impressive to me. The cases mentioned above is maybe only for rich and elite students but still need to look back Japanese education system. Thinking about education is important cause I will be a father in the future. How to raise my children is mostly up to me and my wife. Try to keep in mind the good way to educate and why I think it is good.
Friends`s house was awesome. It was filled with their meticulous taste. Also I was impressed by their hospitality. They served us very delicious dishes and beer. He was truly from holland. Each beer has its own glasses. He is professional about beer so I was very interesting just to hear the explanations from him. Also their first meeting story was awesome. Anyway I just wanna say thanks to their special hospitality.
