1110 Paris Day2

My friend had a school in the morning so I joined a free tour from 11am. There were around 50 participants and separated into two groups. We met my Australian friend in front of the fountain. Before joining the tour, we had a breakfast in a bakery. The croissant and cappuccino. Our guide was an unknown actress, who were from Germany. She has been stimulated by French culture for 10 years and earning money as a guide because the income as an actress was not enough. According to her, Paris started from small island in which Nortre-Dame cathedral is located. And there were only narrow streets. But as time passed, people moved outside of the islands and Paris was enlarged gradually. In front of the cathedral, we had a explanation about the history of the cathedral. Almost 700 years was spent to complete this building and inside of it was destroyed by citizens in 18th century because religion especially catholic was regarded as the ideological enforcement for those who believed free-thinking and joined French Revolution. But it was rebuilt and now it is still one of the main symbol of Paris.

after that we went to eat lunch at small cafe. Workers at the store could not speak English at all. I realized how strong language French was, comparing with Dutch. In north side of Paris, called Paris Nord station, there were many black people like 50 or 60%. They are mostly from African nations that were colonized by France before WW2. I would say Paris had the most ethnic diversity among the cities I have ever been. Income differences between African French and white French are very big and it has been a serious problem for a long time. Japan is going to be like paris?? Most of my friends in my dorm criticized Japanese society cause it doesn’t receive immigrants and refugees. So that, Japanese society is too conservative and mono-ethnic society. Tokyo can be global city only in terms of business. Geographically, it is natural that Japan has been a mono-ethnic society. However, as technical innovation and refugee problem get more serious, Japanese society is going to be changed, it might has to change to deal with several grobal problems.

Anyway I went to arc de thrumph 凱旋門. Here was also free since we showed EU students ID. Paris is very good for students. Thanks to this system, I only paid transportation and food here. The view from the top of the gate was awesome. I could take a great picture of Paris city and Eiffel Tower. There were a preparation for tomorrow`s Remembrance Day of ww1. Most of European countries were envovled in the ww1 so they had a big ceremony to recall the end of hostilities. I learned European history in high school but I forgot many of them. Need to revise them. Passing through the champs-elysees, which was famous for one of the most fancy avenue, and went to the fountain to have dinner. Met with my senior, who is studying in Paris and doing internship in United Nations, and had dinner with. He can speak English, Chinese, Korean, French, Spanish? Like a native speaker. I thought he spoke English very clearly and slowly. Before speaking, organizing some statements and speaking calmly is the secret to improving English I thought.

Once in a LIFE time opportunity
