1015 Hallstatt to Vienna

 [Day3]Vienna

Last night we searched the transportation to Vienna from Hallstatt. There were no cheap way to get there so finally we decided to go there by train. It was very severe loss to poor students. It took around 2.5 hours to go to Vienna but after arriving at the station, the way to the hostel was very long. Google map said it took more than 1 hour but we decide to go there on foot cause we had been running out of money by train.

The way from the station to our hostel was very dirty and messy. I imagined that Vienna was very ancient beautiful city but actually the part of the town was not so clean. One reason for this is it is capital city of Austria. There were many cars and people and messed up with them like Tokyo. And another reason is more refugees come to inhabit from the other countries these days I guess. You can see many turkey restrain, that is, kebab shops in Vienna. We were getting used to fresh air in Salzburg and Hallstatt, so we felt the air pollution of exhaust gas was very unhealthy to human body.

On our way to the hostel, we were too hungry to walk anymore and went to an Austrian restaurant. We ordered three different kinds of Austrian dishes with two glasses of white wine. This was the first time to have Australian specific dishes in this trip. The famous German(Austrian?) dish Schnitzel tasted very normal for me. That was nothing special. It was just the thin version of tonkatsu in Japan. These three dishes were very big but we managed to have them. After getting energy, we walked to the hostel.

The gate of the hostel was very small, but the hostel had depth. I remember this hostel was ranked number 1 hostel in Vienna. It deserved the ranking I thought. We took a bit rest and went to the down town to watch ballet in Volksoper, which was famous for the no.2 opera house in Vienna. We reserved the standing seats on online yesterday night. It costed only 4 euro per person. At first we tried to go to Wien staatsoper, but we needed to wait for two hours to get 3euro standing tickets and also the content was going to be opera in German. Thus we decided to change the opera house. We were just beginner of such kinds of prestigious and aristocracy things, so we concluded we could not tell the difference between no1 and no2. As one of ballet lovers, I was very looking forward to it. We still had 40 minutes before the ballet start, so we walked around the beautiful city. The pictures we took at this time were one of the favorite ones during this trip for me. I need to get the one as soon as possible from Kosuke.

There were a few empty seats so the staff asked us if you want you could sit down. We were extremely lucky. I estimated this sort of things didn’t happen so often. There was an election in Austria and less people were coming to the opera I guess. There were three plays for three hours show but I was sleeping unintentionally during the first play. I tried to wake up seriously. It was embarrassing but I could not wake up and keep watching it because of the sleep-inducing live orchestra. But I were moved to watch the rest of the ballet. Ballet and dance things always encourage me to move forward. I strongly realized I would like to be a professional as well as them and I needed to make an effort to become successful to be an attractive man. Can’t express how beautiful they performed in words. I cannot believe people can do such a beautiful movement. They looked just focusing on their dream and beauty, just pursuing dream without being afraid of something. I would like to become like them. Throughout my life, I decided to watch more ballet, of course I will study about it to enjoy it more.

After being moved by ballet, we went to the bar to meet Kosuke`s friends, who were studying in Vienna. On our way to the bar, I got to know the next leader of Austria would be the guy aged only 31. His party people`s party is middle right and will restrict to refugees and immigrants after making a coalition with right party. I must keep an eye on where the politics of Europe will be going to. After having a very good time with all, we went back to the hostel. Today was also very good day. Thank you everybody I met today.
