1211 snow, religion and power

it has been snowing also today all day long. I went to the library 9am and tried to study sociology of religion. But I could not concentrate on my work cause I was really caring about the flight tickets to Japan. I was so stupid. Anyway I took pasta which I made yesterday dinnertime. The Japanese soy source based pasta was so nice.

The lecture of religion was about the relevance of religion and education. In my high school, there were no religious related classes at all, while many Japanese private high school have them. Dutch society has been also secular. I thought most of dutch people believe in protestantism, but contrary to my expectation, actually there are only 20% of dutch people have faith in the belief. And catholic was believed by around 25% of them. And the tendency of secularization can be seen all over the world. The fact was very surprising thing for me, because you can have many chances to go to churches and national events in European countries.

As Harari, who is the author of HOMO DEUS, said the more power people get, the less meaning people pursue? The capitalism must make the meaning of religion collapsed. How can human beings preserve the concept of morality, beauty, ethics? can we feel the beauty of this Leiden city when it is covered with snow in the future? I will work at the very capitalistic company and I will pursue the monetary benefits as much as possible by means of investment all over the world as long as there is a chance to make money. I have been studying about the possibility of capitalism and concerned about the future of our life if we keep pursuing the law of capitalism. Many problems, like economic recession, global warming, income difference, occurs because of the attitude of companies, which believe that economic growth is the supreme value of human beings. I am really worried about this theme. This is a sort of religion. God has just changed into money. I think I will suffer a conflict while working in the investment company. But Ive decided to work very seriously. Once I start working in the very capitalistic company, I will figure out how the capitalistic society works. Well, I have been very busy with hanging out with my friends last week, but I will study a bit more seriously this week for the approaching tests. Hope it is not gonna be snowy tomorrow.

Once in a LIFE time opportunity
